Supporting persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the San Luis Valley in achieving their fullest potential.
For fifty years, Blue Peaks Developmental Services has provided supports for persons with developmental disabilities in the unique environment of the San Luis Valley in southern Colorado. Founded in 1970 by a group of progressive parents and concerned local citizens, Blue Peaks has been a consistent advocate of community based services and community partnerships for the people we serve. Agency supports optimize the advantage of a rural environment in which community connections are routine and long term. Our organizational culture values an environment rich in diversity, in which each person is respected and has the opportunity to reach their optimal potential. The mission of Blue Peaks Developmental Services is to support persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the San Luis Valley in achieving their fullest potential for integrated and responsible living and working in the community. It is the vision of Blue Peaks Developmental Services to develop a broad based support system throughout the San Luis Valley, utilizing local community services and resources. We value making a difference in our community by empowering a diverse population of individuals in a challenging world. We value and respect individual choice. We value accountability and transparency in agency operations.
