Wayfinder is narrowing our focus to better serve the Medicaid community.
Today, we're sharing an important update about Wayfinder's direction. As we prepare to expand to three new case management agencies (CMAs) early this year, we're narrowing our focus to exclusively serve HCBS (Home and Community-Based Services) and CFC (Community First Choice) provider agencies that support individuals with Medicaid.
This means we're transitioning away from being a comprehensive directory of all community resources to becoming the best-in-class platform specifically for Medicaid provider agencies.
This decision is rooted in what we learned over the last few years and where we can make the biggest impact.
Since launching our RFP feature in 2024, we've seen that HCBS provider agencies represent our most engaged user segment. This makes sense—only Medicaid provider agencies can respond to RFPs, and the families using Wayfinder through their CMAs are primarily seeking Medicaid resources and providers, not services beyond the scope of HCBS waiver funding.
While we've previously supported a wide range of providers—including Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapists, speech therapists, and other service providers—we've realized that trying to serve everyone means we can't serve anyone as well as we'd like. By focusing exclusively on HCBS provider agencies, we can build features, provide support, and deliver value that truly meets this community's unique needs.
Rather than duplicate efforts, we believe the community is better served when we each focus on our strengths (see resources below).
Starting March 1st, 2026, Wayfinder will exclusively list Medicaid provider agencies. Non-Medicaid providers will be removed from the platform to ensure we provide the most accurate and relevant information to our users.
We're rolling out a few new interfaces that make it easier for providers to update their HCBS services and waivers directly from their profile page. This is just the beginning—expect more provider-focused improvements in the coming months.
